Badminton Horse Trials

Badminton Horse Trials is one of the toughest and most exciting equestrian events, the pinnacle of the world’s 3-Day-Event calendar. As the name suggests horses and riders complete the competition over 3 days, each day consisting of a different discipline or phase.

Gatcombe Horse Trials



This renowned event takes place at Gatcombe Park, spectacular home of the Princess Royal and her family and incorporates the British Open, Intermediate and Novice Championships.



Tetbury - Historic Cotswold Market Town



Tetbury came to life with the growth of the Cotswold wool trade, and celebrates over 1300 years of recorded history. The thriving town boasts a wealth architectural heritage, including its iconic market house, built in 1655 at the heart of the town.











Cheltenham Races


Cheltenham, the jewel in Jump racing’s crown, plays host to the best jumping action in the world from 350 spectacular acres in the lee of the beautiful Cotswold hills.



Tetbury Woolsack Race




It is thought that the races originated in the 17th Century by young drovers showing off to local women by running up the hill carrying a woolsack. An official race day has been going for over 30 years now with world records entered in the ‘Guinness book of Records’.

The woolsacks were custom built by the British Wool Federation and are 60lb for men’s races and 35lb for women’s. The original course of 280yds ran from The Royal Oak to The Crown, but since 1999 a shorter course of 240yds has been run.









Chavenage House, Tetbury.


The BBC drama 'Lark Rise to Candleford' starring Dawn French is just one of the productions that has used the magnificent Chavenage House for its setting.

Chavenage House is open to the public from May to September on Thursdays & Sundays from 2 - 5 pm (Last tours start at 4.30 pm).
Also open on Bank Holidays Easter Sunday & Easter Monday.

The Elders




The Elders, a group of twelve leaders from throughout the world, were convened by Nelson Mandela in July 2007 on the occasion of his 89th birthday, to contribute their wisdom, independent leadership and integrity to tackle some of the world’s toughest problems. The Elders’ first mission was to Sudan in September and October 2007.

“This group can speak freely and boldly, working both publicly and behind the scenes on whatever actions need to be taken,” Mandela says “Together we will work to support courage where there is fear, foster agreement where there is conflict, and inspire hope where there is despair.”

Founding members of The Elders are: Graça Machel, Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan, Ela Bhatt, Lakhdar Brahimi, Gro Harlem Brundtland, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Jimmy Carter, Li Zhaoxing, Mary Robinson and Muhammad Yunus.
